Officer Mark Monroe joined the department in 2008 and has proudly served the community with dedication, professionalism, and a strong commitment to public service ever since. Over the course of his career, he has taken on several specialized roles within the department, including Taser Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Quartermaster, and Field Training Officer. He has also been actively involved in supporting community policing events, helping build positive relationships between the department and the residents it serves.
Before beginning his law enforcement career, Officer Monroe served eight years in the United States Marine Corps, including one combat deployment to the Middle East. His military service helped shape the discipline, leadership, and sense of duty that continue to define his approach to policing and community service. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Since 2019, he has also served as an adjunct professor at Rosemont College, teaching courses in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His education, teaching experience, and years of hands-on service have enabled him to contribute meaningfully to both the department's operational and community-focused missions.
Outside of his law enforcement duties, Mark values spending time with his wife and daughter and staying active. He helps coach his daughter’s softball team, plays in a men’s baseball league, enjoys a variety of hands-on hobbies and projects, and loves the outdoors. These interests reflect the same teamwork, dedication, and leadership he brings to his role as an officer and in serving the community.
