storytime in the park

Greetings Willistown Parks & Recreation Friends,

The cool days and cheery colors of fall have brought many smiling faces out to our parks, preserves, and trails. I've seen people taking photos, picnicking, playing, hiking, and bird watching. That's what Willistown's parks are for! In honor of the season, we had a pumpkin decorating surprise that inspired delight in the guests at last week's Greentree Park storytimes.

Scroll along to find out about our remaining fall storytimes, Township recycling, and upcoming seasonal events hosted by some of our wonderful GO WilMa! Station Hosts including the Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds Association, Historic Sugartown, and Willistown Conservation Trust.

As always, please contact me with suggestions or to report a concern.

Happy fall!

?

Here is an opportunity to dispose of sensitive documents that you’ve been storing but have been reluctant to dispose of as trash. Cancelled checks, new checks that you’ll never use, insurance statements, tax forms, charge/bank/debit statements, receipts, confidential letters, and brokerage statements are some of the many types of sensitive documents that people need to dispose of with finality in this age of identity theft.

PLEASE NOTE: Shredding will take place on site in a specially equipped truck. Limit: six boxes. Do not bring newspapers, magazines, cardboard, wallpaper, books, sheets of plastic, Pendaflex folders with metal strips, or three-ring binders. Remove all binder clips. This Halloween weekend, you can help make Ridley Creek at Ashbridge Preserve a little less spooky by joining Willistown Conservation Trust to help plant over 100 native trees and shrubs. These plants will help stabilize the stream bank, reduce the impact of flooding and erosion, and improve the overall health of Ridley Creek.  Please wear shoes that can get wet – the planting requires crossing Ridley Creek.  Bring water, gloves and enthusiasm!  This event is appropriate for all ages. Ashbridge is located just outside of Willistown at 1691 East Strasburg Road, West Chester. Register here.

A NIGHT OF SCIENCE AND BEER with EEL EXPERT, ANN FAULDS

Eel expert, Ann Faulds, will take us on an expedition that follows the life of the American eel. We'll learn about the perils eels encounter along their 1,000-mile journey from the Sargasso Sea to the tributaries of the Chester, Ridley, and Crum creeks.
Try a variety of 2SP's beers - including some fall favorites - and enjoy our hearty "autumn snacks."

We'll be gathering in the large and open backroom at 2SP where the beer is brewed and the cases are stored. It's a fun area filled with string lights and lively music. Weather permitting, we'll leave the overhead garage doors open. The 2SP Brewery in Aston is only 10 minutes from downtown Media.
